أعلنت شركة الخطوط الجوية البريطانية عن السماح لركاب طائراتها باستخدام الأجهزة الإلكترونية من هواتف وحواسب محمولة على متن الطائرة من لحظة الركوب وحتى الخروج منها.
وبذلك تكون أول شركة طيران في أوروبا ترفع القيد عن مستخدمي الأجهزة المحمولة خلال الرحلات الجوية.
وكانت الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني قد وضعت قوانين جديدة تسمح لشركات الطيران بتسهيل شروط السلامة العامة المطلوبة من الركاب، ولكن يشترط تطبيق الخصائص التقنية التي تضمن أمن الطائرة عند استخدام الركاب للأجهزة الإلكترونية.
وتمكنت شركة الخطوط الجوية البريطانية من الحصول على موافقة الهيئة العامة للطيران بعد تنفيذ الشروط التقنية المطلوبة للسماح لركابها باستخدام الهواتف الذكية والحواسب المحمولة واللوحية وغيرها من الأجهزة الإلكترونية.
