الدياتومات (Diatoms) هى مجموعة كبيرة من الطحالب، أحادية الخلايا، تتواجد فى مستعمرات فى شكل خيوط أو أشرطة أو مراوح أو تعرجات أو مستعمرات نجمية وهناك سمة مميزة لخلايا الدياتومات ألا وهى أنها تكون مضمنة فى خلية فريدة مصنوعة من السيليكا (ثانى أكسيد السيليكون المائي).
