معرض فني تحت الماء ما هو إلا عبارة عن مساحة مفتوحة تحت الماء يقع على عمق 13 قدم وسط الحياة البحرية وحتى يمكنك مشاهدة الصور المعروضة في هذا المعرض لابد وأن تمتلك بدلة غطس.

يعتبر مفهوم المعارض الفنية الموجودة تحت الماء لايزال جديد نسبياً، في هذا المعرض على وجه الخصوص نجد تطبيق جيد للفكرة في الحاجز المرجاني الاسترالي، حيث يقوم يومياً الغواصين الستة العاملين في المعرض صباحاً بتجهيز وتأمين الحوامل ووضع اللوحات، وفي المساء يقومون بجمعها مرة أخرى وإزالة أي أثر بيئي سلبي قد تخلفه.

أما بالنسبة لمعالجة الألوان حتى تصمد تحت الماء وتبقى بنفس بريقها، كان على الفنان صاحب المعرض إستخدام ألوان خاصة ممزوجة مع أصباغ الألومنيوم ومن ثم معالجتها كيميائياً لمنع الأضرار الناجمة عن المياه المالحة، ولتنبيه الجمهور بالمعرض، وضعوا فوق سطح الماء بالون كبير على شكل سلحفاة.

والجدير بالذكر أن الهدف الأساسي وراء إنشاء هذا المعرض هو تنبيه الناس بأهمية أماكن التراث العالمي التي ترعاها منظمة اليونيسكو والتنبيه على الخطر الذي تتعرض له الشعاب المرجانية والحاجز المرجاني.
