All hostages of the Bardo museum attack in Tunisia were freed after Police stormed the museum and killed two gunmen who had attacked the museum in the Tunisian capital on Wednesday; however a policeman was killed.

The gunmen had earlier killed at least seven foreign tourists and a Tunisian.

ارتفع عدد ضحايا الهجوم الإرهابى على متحف"باردو" بتونس إلى 22 قتيلاً، وأصيب أكثر من 50 جريحاً، وذلك حسبما أفادت مصادر إعلامية.

كانت وزارة الداخلية التونسية، أعلنت عن انتهاء أزمة الرهائن بمتحف "باردو" وتحريرهم جميعًا، وأكدت مقتل 17 سائحًا ومسلحين اثنين وشرطى فى عملية المداهمة، وذلك حسبما ذكر فى خبر عاجل اليوم الأربعاء. 

Prime Minister Habib Essid confirmed on Wednesday that at least 19 people were killed in the attack, including 19 foreigners.

Shots were fired near the Tunisian parliament and the adjacent Bardo museum on Wednesday afternoon, prompting police to rush reinforcements to the area, As reported.

السبسي يدعو للتعبئة العامة ويصف الحادث الإرهابي بـ"المصيبة الكبيرة"

قام رئيس الجمهورية التونسية، الباجي قائد السبسي، اليوم، بزيارة إلى مستشفى "شارل نيكول" بالعاصمة، للاطمئنان على المصابين في الهجوم الإرهابي الذي استهدف متحف "باردو" اليوم الأربعاء.

وفي كلمة مقتضبة لوسائل الإعلام، أكّد الرئيس أنّ ما حلّ بتونس مصيبة كبيرة وأنه من الضروري أن تدخل الدولة في مرحلة تعبئة للتصدي للمخاطر الإرهابية التي تهدد البلاد.

من جهة أخرى، قال رئيس الحكومة التونسية، الحبيب الصيد، في كلمة له حول العملية الإرهابية بباردو، اليوم، إن عدد الضحايا بلغ 19 شخصا من بينهم 17 سائحا. 

وأوضح الصيد، أن المعطيات الأولية تفيد أن الإرهابيين دخلوا مباشرة بعد قدوم حافلة كانت تحمل سياحا وقاموا بفتح النار عشوائيا على الضحايا، مما جعل السياح يفرون إلى داخل المتحف. 

وقال الصيد خلال مؤتمر صحفى عقده عقب اجتماع لخلية الأزمة على إثر العملية الإرهابية، إن عدد الجرحى بلغ 24 شخصا من بينهم 22 سائحا.

The gunfire prompted parliamentary committees to suspend their meetings as lawmakers were ordered to assemble in the main chamber, Islamist MP Monia Brahim told .

MPs were discussing counter-terrorism legislation when the parliament was attacked and they were later evacuated.

The ominous sound sends the men scattering for cover.





Two British nationals are among the eight confirmed dead in this siege, according to reports.





Local media is reporting that the gunmen used Kalashnikovs and grenades in the attack.





Tunisian security services are still engaged in a gun battle, it is believed.





The National Bardo Museum in Tunis is adjacent to the national parliament building, which was being evacuated after the shooting.





Interior ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui said on Radio Mosaique that only one of the dead in the attack was a Tunisian. He did not provide nationalities for the others.





A reporter for Russia Today tweeted that English, French, Spanish and Italians are reportedly among the victims.
