حدث انهيار ثلجي في جبل إفرست نتيجة الزلزال الذي ضرب نيبال، ويعتقد أن هناك 19 شخص قد قتلوا نتيجة ذلك الانهيار الثلجي ناهيك عن 700 متسلق للجبال محاصرين الآن على جبل إفرست نتيجة انقطاع كل الطرق الجبلية فلم يعد بإمكانهم النزول عن الجبل، ولقد تمكنت المروحيات من إخراج 22 من العالقين على الجبل وكان معظمهم من الجرحى، ولكن جهود الإنقاذ توقفت بسبب الأحوال الجوية السيئة التي تحول حتى الآن من إنقاذ بقية العالقين .
