Help save Siti Zainab from execution
Now another woman is on death row awaiting execution by beheading. Siti Zainab Binti Duhri Rupa is a migrant worker from Indonesia, and a mother of two. Police suspect she was mentally ill when she ‘confessed’ to murdering her employer – but her confession was enough to seal her death sentence.
We don’t have long to act. This is a crucial window where international media are focused on the plight of female domestic workers. Someone needs to speak for Siti Zainab and Rizana, and for the thousands of women like them – and now is the moment.
Write to the King of Saudi Arabia, and ask him to stop the execution of Siti Zainab
Many foreign workers in Saudi Arabia suffer at the hands of their employers, who they are completely dependent on. Some are not paid. Some are beaten, and some are even raped. If arrested, they may be deceived or coerced into signing a confession in Arabic, a language they do not understand. And many have no money or family or friends to turn to for help.
These conditions breed abuse and injustice – and for Siti Zainab, could be fatal. Write to the King of Saudi Arabia now.
