وأطلق "جونز" تهديداته للعالم بحرق 2998 مصحفا بعدد ضحايا الهجوم الإرهابي على مركز التجارة الدولى، ولكنه تراجع عن تهديده وتعهد بحرق نسخة من القرآن الكريم في كل ذكرى سنوية للحادث.
