The zoo's plans had sparked an outcry from animal rights activists. A British zoo had offered to give Marius a home and even started an online petition to save the giraffe, gathering more than 25,000 signatures.

Using the likes of buttons, broken jewelry and toy parts, Jane Perkins, from Exeter, UK, has recreated the famous faces of Albert Einstein, David Beckham, Kate Middleton, The Queen, as well as some of the worlds most iconic paintings. Brit Jane, 55, came up with the idea for her quirky style in 2006, after writing a thesis about recycling materials to use them for art. Having tried her hand at recreating a junk version of a Matisse painting, Jane decided to focus her work on people that public would recognize most - starting with her very own take on Queen Elizabeth II.

An image taken by Nasa's Solar Dynamics Observatory shows an active region of the sun's coronal loops taken over a two-day period from February 8 - 10. Coronal loops are found around sunspots and in active regions. These structures are associated with the closed magnetic field lines that connect magnetic regions on the solar surface. Many coronal loops last for days or weeks, but most change quite rapidly.
