تعيش سلالة دجاج "دونغ تاو" النادرة، صاحبة الأقدم الكبيرة في فيتنام، وتنمو ليصل وزنها إلى 6 كيلو جرامات، في حين قد يكلف زوج من أقدامها مئات الدولارات في مطاعم الأثرياء.
ووفقًا لِمَا نشره موقع "أوديتي سنترال" الأمريكي، يحظى هذا النوع من الدجاج، بشعبية واسعة في فيتنام، وتتراوح أسعاره ما بين 350 ألف دونج فيتنامي "19 دولارًا"، إلى 6 ملايين دونج "286 دولارًا"، اعتمادًا على النوع، وضخامة الأقدام.
تصاعدت أسعار دونج تاو، مرة أخرى خلال السنوات الماضية، وارتفع الطلب عليها بشكل كبير، ففي عام 2013، رفض مزارع من مدينة هوشي جنوب البلاد بيع دجاجتين بأقل من 50 مليون دونج "2500 دولار".
ويستغرق تربية هذا النوع من الدجاج عامًا كاملاً ليصبح جاهزًا للبيع، فكلما زاد وزنه، وكبرت قدماه، كلما ارتفع سعره، كما أنه يضع عددًا أقل من البيض من الدجاج العادي، مما يزيد من صعوبة إنتاجه، وبالتالي من سعره أيضًا.
