تحمل قرية Velikaya Kopanya في أوكرانيا لقب “أرض التوائم” نظرًا للعدد المرتفع من التوائم الذين ولدوا فيها والذي وصل إلى 61 توأم من بين 4000 شخص يسكن في تلك القرية، وتنتظر القرية دخول سجل غينيس للأرقام القياسية العالمية بأكبر عدد من التوائم في العالم.

ووفقًا لما قاله السكان المحليين فأن ظاهرة التوائم بدأت في القرية منذ عام 2004م، ولكن هناك سيدة في تلك القرية التي هي في الأصل توأم ولديها من الأحفاد 6 توائم، تقول بأن ظاهرة التوائم في القرية موجودة منذ كانت في الصغر لأنه كان لديها أصدقاء توائم في ذلك الحين.

A village in Ukraine has been branded the 'Land of the Twins' because a record-breaking 122 of them live there.

The village of Velikaya Kopanya in south-west Ukraine’s Zakarpattia Oblast region has less than 4,000 inhabitants.

But the amount of twins for such a small place is extraordinary high, with 122 of them in total.

The village with 61 pairs of twins has already made it into the Ukraine’s record book and may end up in the Guinness Book of World Records .

Locals say that the amount of newly-born twins in the village is higher than anywhere else in the country.

Maryana Savka, a local councillor, said: "The ultimate baby boom came in the year 2004. But ever since then we are having at least between two and three sets of twins born every year."

وهناك التوأمان Misha و Vanya اللذان يبلغان من العمر 10 سنوات، واللذان يعتبران توأمان سياميان، حيث يقول Misha بأن درجة الشبه بينهم تجعله قادر على تقديم بعض الواجبات والاختبارات عن أخيه التوأم دون أن يميزه الأساتذة، وأيضًا يجد الوالدان صعوبة التمييز فيما بينهم.

Local villagers believe that the reason for the ‘twin-boom’ is the special local water which they claim has health-giving properties.

وهناك أمر غريب في قرية التوائم، حيث أن ظاهرة التوائم لا تقتصر على البشر، بل وجد بعض حالات للتوائم عند البقر أيضًا، وهذا الأمر جعل أهالي القرية يعتقدون بأن المياه في هذه القرية تحتوي على خصائص معينة تزيد من نسبة الخصوبة عند أهالي القرية، مما يجعلهم ينجبون التوائم، ولكن قام بعض العلماء الأوكرانيين بفحص المياه، فلم يلاحظوا أي شيىء في المياه سواء أنها نظيفة جدًا.

The double-effect even extends to cattle - there are above average births of cow twins too.

Yuriy Shevira, one of twins of the village, said his father puts it all down to the local water.

Anna Tsogla is officially the mother of the youngest twins of the village and she said she "knew all along" she would have twins.

Near-identical twin brothers Danila and Dmitro, who can only be told apart by a birth mark on one of their cheeks, say that despite that local school teachers still cannot tell the difference between them.

Dmitro said: "When they give out note pads they always confuse ours."
