Bulgaria's third European country to ban the niqab

أقر البرلمان البلغاري، الجمعة، قانوناً يحظر ارتداء النقاب في الأماكن العامة، لتصبح بلغاريا ثالث دولة أوروبية بعد فرنسا وبلجيكا تطبق تشريعاً من هذا النوع.

Bulgarian parliament approved on Friday a law banning the wearing of the veil in public places, to become Bulgaria's third European country after France and Belgium applied legislation of this kind.

والقانون الجديد "يحظر ارتداء ملابس تخفي الوجه جزئياً أو كلياً في الأماكن العامة"، إلا إذا كان ذلك لأسباب صحية أو تتطلبها المهنة. وأعفيت المساجد من هذا المنع.

The new law "banning the wearing of clothes hiding partially or completely the face in public places," unless it is required by the profession or health reasons. The mosques were exempted from this prohibition.

والعقوبات المقررة هي غرامة قدرها مئتا ليفا (مائة يورو) للمخالفة للمرة الأولى، و1500 ليفا (750 يورو) لكل مخالفة تالية.

Rapporteur penalties are a fine of two hundred leva (one hundred euros) for the offense for the first time, and 1,500 leva (750 euros) for each subsequent offense.

من جهة أخرى، إستفادت حكومة الأقلية ليمين الوسط بقيادة بويكو بوريسوف من دعم حزب "الجبهة الوطنية" القومي الذي قدم مشروع القانون.

On the other hand, the minority center-right government led by Boyko Borissov benefited from the support of the national "National Front" party, which introduced the bill.

وكانت مسودة القانون تنص أولاً على عقوبات بالسجن وحرمان من مساعدات إجتماعية للواتي يرتدين النقاب.

The draft law provides for prison sentences on first and deprivation of social assistance for Louati wearing the niqab.
