19 Amazing Places To Travel Most People Don’t Know About…

There are many places you think of going when you decide to go on holiday, those places are called tourist hot spots. However, when I like to travel I like to think that going somewhere amazing and new should be more on the to-do list, for example the Ristorante Grotta Palazzese, Poliganano a Mare in Italy (the first picture).

Just imagine going there with your partner and having a wonderful meal whilst sipping on some excellent wine then the whole time taking in the fresh air and beautiful view over the sea. Holidays should be made up of many experiences like those and not tourist hot-spots, well… that’s my opinion anyway!

Ristorante Grotta Palazzese, Polignano a Mare, Italy

This is a place to visit when you want a romantic evening with your loved one, a place to stare into each others eyes, a place to enjoy each others company, a place to really have a wonderful time.

Chichilianne, Rhone Alpes, France

There’s always something special about going to France, most European people will tell you that France is a beautiful place to go, Non European people look at France and see Paris (city of love), however, France holds many special places that are a MUST see!

Nauru, Micronesia

Do me a favor and access your memory vault a second… Ok, now you are in the vault, have you ever heard of a place called Nauru? Nope? Well.. neither had I until I started creating this post. It’s a tiny little island nation with less than 10,000 residents. Because it’s so unknown and well out of the way it is in fact the least visited country in the world. There are miles of untouched beaches and beautiful forests. I should think that as soon as more people find out about this place it will get very busy, visit it while you can!

Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), Paro Valley, Bhutan

This is a 17th century temple that sits on the edge of a cliff 3,000 feet above the beautiful Paro Valley. This beautiful holly site was built solely to protect the cave, the cave in which the Guru Padmasambhava used to occupy, a leader of Buddhism and meditation for three years, three months and three days and three hours.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

This is a medieval city so it features plenty of beautifully old buildings that have been preserved. Dubrovink so intact still that part of the city is used as King’s Landing in Game of Thrones. The city is brimming with amazing architecture and surrounded by the beautiful Mediterranean on one side and walls on the other. Certainly a place to visit once in your lifetime.

Began, Burma

Began is an ancient city that is hidden deep within the Burma countryside. At the height of the Kingdom of Pagan, the city had well over 10,000 Buddhist temples. Today there’s over 2,200 of them still standing which makes an amazing place to visit. I am somewhat of a believer when it comes to Buddhism, I even have an amulet around my neck while writing this. Certainly something to be drawn towards if you like Buddha or the culture in any way.

Aescher, Switzerland

Aescher Hotel is so high up on the Appenzellerland mountains that you actually have to hike your way up or get a cable car to reach it. Amenities are intentionally basic but the food is super tasty and hearty. Nearby trails around the area will lead you to some amazing and exhilarating adventures that take you to views that will simply blow your mind. The views from the hotel are already staggering to say the least.

Haiku Stairs, Hawaii

What you are looking at above is known as The Stairway To Heaven which can be located on the island of O’ahu. The trail is fairly unknown so there is plenty of untouched elements of the trail making it super natural looking. The trail is a long steep assent with a peak of 2,800 feet above sea level. When you are that high in Hawaii the views you get are the reward from mother nature, you will be in awe!

Pingvallavatn Lake, Iceland

This stunning lake can be found deep within the huge national park, the boundary between North America and Europe. Lucky divers can swim deep between the tectonic plates that divide these two continents. Each year the valley beneath the lake that you swim is changing each year, it actually gets 2 centimeters wider. As you can see from the photo above, the water is crystal clear and provides amazing sights to see.

Chefchaouen, Northwest Morocco

Hidden deep within the Rif Mountains of Northwest Morocco is a sleepy little village that goes by the name Chefchaouen. As you can see by the photo above this lovely little has an addiction to the color blue. The ancient parts of this sleepy town are covered in shades of blue paint, you’ll find it spreading across the streets, walls and even inside the homes on nearly every street and alleyway. Chefchaouen is often referred to as “The Blue Pearl City”.

Lord Howe Island, Australia

This island located in Australia is mostly untouched by man, there is a native population and only 400 tourists being allowed to visit each year. The limit is in place to protect the amazingly beautiful natural landscape of the Howe Island, which is home to a special crystal lagoon and coral reef. If you are one of the lucky people that get the chance to ever visit this place, do not decline the offer!

Bishop Castle, San Isabel National Forest, Rye, Colorado

Bishop Castle is without doubt one of the most mad / craziest castles in the world. Created by the one-man castle builder that goes by the name Jim Bishop. It’s an incredible place to get married or and inspiration to just visit. In my honest opinion, this is one heck of an ugly castle but never the less impressive if you consider it was built by just one person, I’m not sure what it was built for though, either way it is defiantly a place to visit if you are near by.

Huacachina, Peruvian Desert

Huacachina is a lush village oasis in an otherwise barren desert that is home to just over 100 people. For just a few bucks you can rent sand-boarding equipment and try the locals’ favorite thrills on the sand dunes. I’ve been in the mountains snowboarding and blading before so if the sandboarding is anything like that, it’s a must visit and try!

The Bastei Bridge in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, Germany

The Bastei Bridge is a sandstone walkway that connects rocky peaks above the Elbe River in Germany. The bride is located in the Saxon Switzerland National Park in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains which is very close to Saxon Switzerland. As you walk across the bridge you will get to see some very strange formations of rock in the mountainous region, this area is so beautiful that it’s sought after by photographers, artists and sport / nature enthusiasts.

Cappadocia, Turkey

Cappadocia is somewhat of a historical region in Central Anatolia, best known for its unique Moon-like landscape, underground cities and stunning cave towns. All of this is best seen from the sky, granted you can’t see the underground cities from the sky, something to see when you land after being in one of the very many hot air balloons that offer the amazing bird eye views that make this place stunning.

Hallstatt, Austria

The medieval village of Hallstat is home to less than 1,000 people. Located high in the mountains of Hallstat, you can explore prehistoric trails and mines there were some of the first ever in the entire world. Take a boat trip around the lake that the village sits on or enjoy a hearty meal in one of the few homey restaurants in this quaint little village.

Leptis Magna, Tripoli, Libya

Leptis Magna was once a major city of the Roman Empire bustling with people and trade, now its ruins act as an adventurer’s playground. To experience the stunning sights of ancient Rome without competing with the crowds that usually form around these kinds of places, this is the place to go. There is usually hardly anyone around this area. You have time and clear space to make beautiful photos or create some amazing art!

The Alcázar Of Segovia

The Alcázar of segovia is a stone fortification located in the old part of the city. It’s one of the most distinctive castles in Spain by the virtue of its shape… almost like the bow of a ship. Once you hike your way to the castle there are views to be had that are spectacular to say the least. Inside the castle are some very interesting features such as a weapons room, stunning paintings, ornate ceilings and stained glass windows. Certainly a place to visit if you are ever near by!
