بدأت وحدات من القوات البحرية المصرية والبحرية السعودية تنفيذ فعاليات التدريب البحرى المشترك مرجان 14 والذى يستمر لعدة أيام بنطاق قاعدة البحر الأحمر البحرية وتشارك فيه عدد من الدول العربية والإفريقية بصفة مراقب.
ويشتمل التدريب علي تنفيذ العديد من الأنشطة منها قيام الجانبين بتخطيط وإدارة أعمال قتال مشتركة نهارًا وليلاً بالتعاون مع القوات الجوية، والتدريب على أعمال الاعتراض البحرى والبحث عن الغواصات ومكافحة الالغام، والإمداد والتزود بالوقود أثناء الإبحار، وتنفيذ حق الزيارة والتفتيش واقتحام السفن المشتبه فيها والتعاون مع القوات الجوية.
تأتى هذه التدريبات فى إطار خطة التدريبات المشتركة للقوات المسلحة المصرية والسعودية لصقل مهارات وقدرات القوات على تنفيذ وإدارة مهام قتالية مشتركة وفقًا لأحدث النظم وأساليب القتال البحري وتعظيم الاستفادة المشتركة لكلا البلدين اللذين تربطهما أواصر متينة من الشراكة والتعاون.

These exercises in the framework of a plan joint training of the Armed Forces of Egypt and Saudi Arabia to hone the skills and capabilities of troops on the implementation and management of the functions of joint combat, according to the latest systems and methods of fighting maritime and maximize the mutual benefit of both countries, the two linked by the bonds of a solid partnership and cooperation.
