AS NASA made its historic announcement of finding signs of water on the surface of Mars, alien hunters celebrated their own discovery amid claims these pictures shows a fossilised dinosaur in rocks on the Red Planet.
The "fossilised creature" paranormal Crucible claims to have found
Pictures placed online, which were originally taken by the Nasa Mars Curiosity Rover, showed a strange rock formation that UFO researchers claim could be the fossilised bones of a long-dead Martian pre-historic beast.
YouTube channel Paranormal Crucible yesterday said the image was taken by the rover at the Gale Crater.
In a video, the channel said: "This appears to show the of remains of a possibly prehistoric monster".
"If we look closer we can see a large skull with a defined small bone, we can also see a large eye socket and a large curved spine".
"As we rebuild the artefact using enhancement techniques and colourisation",
we can begin to see that this artefact is the remains of a long-dead Martian creature.

"It is quite clear this is indeed the petrified remains of a Martian creature, possibly prehistoric in nature."
Paranormal Crucible has mocked up a Komodo Dragon on Mars
The video suggested it may only have been a few hundred years old, and the remains of a Martian version of the Komodo Dragon huge lizards on Earth, saying they could survive in very harsh environments.
The video asked: "Is it possible that a hybrid species of dragon once walked the Martian surface?"
You would think Nasa might get excited by a "discovery" of this nature, but it seems they are not uncommon, and so-called evidence of everything from real aliens, to other prehistoric fossils and even stone-age tools have also been put forward.
But Nasa explains these are just unusually eroded rocks and the alien hunters are the victims of pareidolia - an optical illusion that is caused after the brain tricks the eyes into seeing familiar objects or shapes in textured surfaces or patterns.
