 يناقش العلماء على مدى عشرات السنين ما إذا كانت هناك فيروسات تعيش بشكل دائم في أمعاء الإنسان أم لا.

ودلت نتائج الدراسات الأخيرة التي أجراها البروفيسور في جامعة سان دييغو روبرت أدوارتس أن نصف سكان العالم يحملون في أمعائهم فيروسا يدعى " cr Assphage " يؤدي وظيفة القيام بإبادة جراثيم تتسبب في الإصابة بأكثر الأمراض انتشارا ، بما فيها مرض السكري ومرض البدانة وغيرهما من الأمراض.

وأجرى الباحثون -وفقا لروسيا اليوم- تجارب على 12 متطوعا، فاكتشفوا لديهم 97 ألف حمض نووي متشابه.

وحاولوا مقارنتها مع قاعدة البيانات المتوفرة لديهم، فلم يكتشفوا أي شيء شبيها لها.

ويعتقد العلماء أن انتشار الفيروس يدل على أنه قديم، ويحتمل أنه ظهر مع ظهور الإنسان وإنه يتكاثر عن طريق نقل العدوى إلى انواع من جراثيم الأمعاء التي تلعب دورا هاما في تطور البدانة ومرض السكري.

ويحاول العلماء الآن استيضاح طريقة انتشار هذا الفيروس. لكنهم يستبعدون طريقة الوراثة. وتساعد هذه الدراسة في إدراك العمليات التي تجري في أمعاء الإنسان، وفي ايجاد سبل للحيلولة دون الإصابة بمرضي السكري والبدانة.
