أعلن الدكتور أحمد عماد الدين راضي وزير الصحة والسكان المصرى موافقة مجلس الوزراء على تخصيص أسورة صفراء اللون ستقوم بعثة الحج المصرية كاملة بارتدائها.

Hajj pilgrims to get e-bracelets for safety

Saudi Arabia is to issue electronic bracelets to pilgrims travelling to Mecca for this year's Hajj, the world's largest Islamic gathering.

It follows a stampede last year in which more than 750 people are believed to have died, with 900 injured.

The bracelets will contain personal and medical information to help authorities care for and identify people, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Nearly 1,000 new surveillance cameras have also been installed.

وقال خلال مؤتمر صحفي منعقد الآن بوزارة الصحة، إنه تم إعدادها من خلال إحدى الشركات المصرية، وبها كارت ممغنط سيتم وضع عليه كل البيانات الرسمية الخاصة بالحاج المصري، بها الاسم، والسن، ورقم جواز السفر، ورقم التليفون، والرقم القومي، وكافة بياناته الشخصية.

 موضحًا أنه سيتم تزويد البعثة بقارئ إلكترونى لهذا الكارت ليكون للبعثة قدرة على التعرف على الحجاج المصرى، مشيرًا إلى أن هذا يتم بالتوازي مع إعداد قاعدة بيانات كاملة عن كل الحجاج المصريين.

Muslim pilgrims joining this year's hajj in Saudi Arabia will have to wear an electronic safety bracelet, newspapers reported Friday, after more than 2,000 died in a stampede last year.

The high-tech safety measure will help authorities provide care "and identify people", the Arab News and Saudi Gazette reported.

The ID bracelets will contain crucial information such as passport numbers and addresses but will also offer information to worshippers, such as timings of prayers and a multi-lingual help desk to guide non-Arabic speakers around the event.

They will be water-resistant and connected to GPS. The information can be accessed by employees of the ministry, and security and services bodies via a smartphone.

وأوضح أن أي حاج سيقوم بصرف دواء أثناء الحج من البعثة الطبية، سيتم تسجيله على تلك الشريحة، كما سيتم تسجيل كل  الأدوية على قاعدة البيانات المرفقة مع البعثة الرئيسية.

At least 2,297 pilgrims died during the stampede on September 24 during last year's hajj, according to data from foreign officials, some of whom expressed concerns about difficulty in identifying the victims.

Saudi Arabia issued a death toll of 769.

وأوضح أن الميزة الثالثة لهذه الأسورة، التي ستطبق بداية من العام المقبل، سيضاف على هذا الكارت ما يسمي بالملف الطبي للحاج كاملاً، أي سيتم إدراج كافة مشكلاته الصحية على تلك الأسورة للتسهيل على الأطباء معرفة حالة الحاج، وسيتم صرفها مع الشنطة التي سيحصل عليها الحاج المصري أثناء السفر، وهي مجانية ولن يدفع الحاج مقابل مادي لها.

The bracelets are water resistant, connected to a GPS location system, and store each pilgrim's personal information including address and medical records, the newspapers said.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, the interior minister who also chairs the hajj committee, ordered a probe immediately after the stampede disaster last year but there has been no word on its findings.

وأشار، إلى أن ما حدث من وفاة الحجاج المصريين العام الماضي في منى، وقال للأسف لم نتعرف عليهم، وهذه الأسورة ستسهم في التعرف على الحجاج.

The tragedy happened as pilgrims made their way in searing temperatures to the Jamarat, the place where they ritually stone the devil in the city of Mina in western Saudi Arabia.

The hajj and lesser umrah pilgrimages bring millions of Muslims to Saudi Arabia every year.

In another safety measure, more than 800 surveillance cameras have been installed at Mecca's Grand Mosque, Islam's holiest site, the Saudi Gazette reported this month.
